Welcome to the Ashcroft Community Butterfly Garden!

Thank you so much for stopping by and taking a moment to connect with this space. As a performer and filmmaker raised right here in Redford, my life has been built on storytelling. But some of the most meaningful stories aren’t told on screens or stages—they are grown right here in the soil of the neighborhood that shaped me.

What you are looking at today at Mercedes Park is the result of a deep personal passion to revitalize our community. This project began with a simple vision: to honor my family and protect the incredible, fragile migration of the monarch butterfly. What was once an overlooked plot has been transformed into a thriving community oasis—a place where sustainable landscaping meets inspiring art to give our residents a vibrant space to gather, breathe, and connect.

Why This Space Matters When we rehabilitate land within our neighborhoods, we aren't just planting flowers; we are investing in our collective well-being. Butterfly gardens like this one play a critical role in our local ecosystem by.

Grow the Garden With Me! This is a living, breathing community project, and I want you to be a part of it. If you have any cool garden art, native plants, or flowers that you would like to donate, please reach out or feel free to drop them off right next to the garden! If they fit the ecosystem and layout, I will gladly implement them into the space.
